Well, here it is, the final bit of filler before we start the next major story arc!! BOOK TWO AHOY!! Yeah, Night Jewel will be returning for a bit of fun. She's one of my old favorites, when I decided to have her appear in Book One, rather than later on I decided that I would not do a whole mess of stories in a row, instead I'm only doing one (two, max) arcs involving her in a Book. The next one shows up towards the end of Book Two, rather than right away though...so it'll be a while yet. But hey, something to look forwards to if you're a fan of her...
The picture itself...god...I @#$%ed up so badly on her head it makes my mind spin in confusion and disgust. However, I do want her with short hair and the armor came out really, really good, so I'll take my suck as it falls. See, one of the big problems I had when I first started the comic was not being able to draw hair, seriously, this was something I couldnt do. That's why Hana has basic long hair, Sam had that crazy ass faux-spike thing going on...and where Tom's now trademarked spikes come from (note: Tom's spikes not actually trademarked). Now, however, I don't think I would change them if I could, save Sam's of course...which I did.
Anyway, Back when I first imagined NJ I saw her with short, boyish hair...but like I said, when it came time to draw her I just couldn't do it right (there were some sketches done that should be burned) so rather than nix the story arc I just gave her basic long hair. This time, however, so help me Gods I'll get her to look good with short hair. So you may see some more filler sketches of her with varying hair styles.
Oh, and a friend of mine asked if she was black or brown or whatever. She's actually from a South American country, Peru or Guatemala. In that area. She has a long history and a complicated back story (both as a person and as my character)...but I'm not married to any ideas about her country of origin, if you'd like to throw in a vote or something. But there are some other points that are very important about her, just so you don't think I'm winging it here. Who knows, maybe I'll throw a dart at my wall map for it, that's how I ended up with Mauritania in Chapter Three. As long as it fits the basic needs of the story, I'll take what ever I think works the best. XD
Peace.
